Resilience in Fragility

Wendy Krochmal, an artist based in Antwerp, is renowned for her artworks that highlight the frailty of life and the vulnerability of existence. She explores and depicts this theme through a range of subjects, such as war, the absurdity of violence, the human condition, and attraction and love. Using various techniques and an intriguing selection of found objects and materials taken out of their usual contexts, she creates pieces that encourage the viewer to freely associate and reflect.

Wendy's work has been exhibited in many places, including the Jewish Museum of Belgium and the BOZAR in Brussels, where her work was selected in a national competition. She has also created on-site installations both in Belgium and abroad. One of her most notable works is "Fort Intemporal", an art installation she made together with architect Bobby Fogel, which was exhibited in the beautiful Forte Marghera park on the outskirts of Venice, parallel to the Venice Architecture Biennale of 2018.
